Julia

Founder, Director and Practitioner

‘Hi, my name is Julia. I’m the owner of Lana’s Holistic Centre (LHC) – a local massage clinic where every single treatment is tailored to your individual needs. I’m hugely passionate about holistic health in all aspects – psychological, physiological and biological; hence the name of my clinic and unique approach to health and wellness.

I truly believe that massage is a way to a healthier, qualitative, and stress-free life – and so, opted years ago to pursue it as a career, helping meet the needs of clients. with all kinds of requirements through the power of touch. Whilst many people rely on medication for stress, tension and pain relief (and this is sometimes necessary), I believe that so much can be alleviated with the right massage.

I’m proud to specialise in both remedial, holistic treatments, yoga and reiki – having great insider knowledge of injury treatment and flexibility as an ex-martial arts fighter and yoga practitioner.

Massage Therapist Specialising in Deep Tissue, Sports Therapy and Holistic Treatments

‘With 15 years of experience as a massage therapist, my focus lies in deep tissue massage, sports massage therapy, and Swedish holistic massage. What truly captivates me is the fascinating connection between the mind and body.

Having a background in dance alongside my massage therapy work, I possess a profound understanding of the human body, its power, and its potential. As a movement director, I have the pleasure of meeting diverse individuals and thrive on problem-solving and discovering solutions to alleviate their pain and discomfort.

During my massage sessions, I incorporate my extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, complemented by the importance of breath and relaxation. These elements are vital in facilitating progress towards healing and well-being.

A typical session with me begins with a friendly chat, where we discuss the reasons for seeking treatment. From there, I focus on releasing tension and alleviating pain, ultimately creating a space for relaxation and rejuvenation.’

Martina

Massage Therapist Specialising in Sports and Remedial Treatments

I have recently graduated with my bachelor in Sports and Exercise Science and wanted to further my education by doing a Sports Massage course as well as being a 1st year student doing a masters in Physiotherapy. My background is mostly in sports as I have been a volleyball player for the past 10 years but have also dedicated my time to other sports. With that came an opportunity to study different types of therapy to be able to enhance performance or help with previous injuries. My main focus is to be able to tailor a specific plan for each patient and be able to help not only within the massage but also lifestyle. Having an approach to good health not only in a physical way but also mental health.

I had a brilliant deep tissue massage at Lana's Holistic Centre. The therapist was warm and welcoming. I suffer with tight muscles in my back, and shoulder area. I've tried a few places recently, however, the treatment at Lana's was the best and worked a treat. The centre is easy to find and there is free parking up to an hour nearby by. I'd definitely recommend Lana's.

Had been suffering from some back pain and on enquiry I managed to get a same day appointment. Location was easy to get to, bright and clean. The service was fantastic, and everything was explained. I came away feeling much better and results have lasted. Will definitely go back and would recommend.

I booked in to get my back seen to as I'd been suffering quite badly. I can honestly say that after an hour's treatment I have never had such good results before! I left feeling very relaxed with lots more movement and significantly less pain than I had when I arrived. Chris was very courteous and knowledgeable, explaining the different muscle groups and their function. The treatment rooms were hygienic and welcoming, will definitely be coming back!

Lana's deep tissue work is exceptional. As an older man with chronic tightness in shoulders, back and neck it means a lot to have skillful, deep pressure which gets to the roots of the pain and tension. I also gained more understanding of the causes and how to self-help.

FAQs

What qualifications should a massage therapist have?

Massage treatments aren’t regulated by law in the UK – meaning doing research into your chosen provider and their qualifications can be the difference between a session with a professional or untrained therapist. One way to ensure your massage therapist is right for your needs is to look into their qualifications and memberships with governing bodies.

For example, the massage therapists at Lana’s Holistic Centre are all members of the Federation of Holistic Therapists; a professional association designed to ensure high standards in both training and practice. In addition to this, each of our team members holds qualifications in accordance with their specialisms, from diplomas in sports therapy to certificates in Thai yoga massage.

Do I need a massage therapist?

When it comes to massage, training and qualification can make a significant difference in treatment. Whilst the odd DIY massage may provide some relief, those seeking a solution to injury, muscle overuse, chronic pain, stiffness, and more are likely to find that professional services are the most effective route.

You may want to consider booking in with a massage therapist if you’re feeling the effects of training or exercise, have consistent pain, are stressed or experiencing tension and aches, don’t have a full range of motion, aren’t getting enough sleep, or are generally in need of relaxation and rejuvenation.

What's the difference between a massage therapist and masseuse?

The terms ‘massage therapist’ and ‘masseuse’ refer to the same role within the massage industry – however, traditionally, ‘masseuse’ applies only to women, whilst ‘massage therapist’ is a gender-neutral title. For this reason, ‘masseuse’ has lost popularity over the years, with most massage centres and clinics opting to use ‘therapist’ across the board. Massage therapists specialise in treating elements of the body including soft tissue, joints, and muscle with touch, using a variety of techniques (and, in some circumstances, equipment such as hot stones) to treat injuries, provide relief, and relax.

Lana’s Holistic Centre is proud to host a carefully crafted team of massage therapists qualified in both holistic and remedial massage. To find out more about them and their qualifications, read the ‘meet the team’ page above.

What is a massage therapist?

Massage therapists specialise in manual therapy – using touch and body manipulation to treat soft tissue, muscles, tendons, and joints. The aim of their treatments will vary in line with their philosophy. For example, some massage centres provide services with the sole intent of relaxing their clients, whilst others delve more deeply into healing and physiotherapy. Here at Lana’s Holistic Centre, our massage therapists assess and treat clients on a case-by-case basis, developing bespoke treatments in line with the location of painful or tense areas, injuries, or other unique requirements. For this reason, each and every massage they provide is different, however, throughout the vast majority, they’ll use their hands, forearms, and elbows to manipulate the body with the aim of relaxing, restoring, and remediating – strengthening both the body and mind.

What should I ask my massage therapist?

Having an open line of communication with your massage therapist is incredibly important – even prior to your appointment. Before settling on a provider, it’s best to make sure that they’re the right fit for you and vice-versa in order to ensure that you receive treatment in line with your needs. Asking the right questions and providing detailed information regarding your situation and requirements can assist greatly in this.

Firstly, our experts recommend asking your therapist about their qualifications, memberships, and training. As massage therapy isn’t regulated in the UK, it’s vital to ensure your final choice is educated, trustworthy, and ultimately, has the background required to help you achieve the results you’re looking for.

We also recommend making inquiries regarding previous experience, specialisms, and approaches.
